Hi, my name is Danny Breslin and I am a writer.
Admitting to being a writer is no easy thing; people look at you in a funny way, as if they are thinking, “Oh really? How come you haven’t got a proper job?” This is my proper job, I write. I have been ghostwriting blogs for the last couple of years and I’ve just finished writing my first book: Me & Gus on the Roof of the World (you can get in on Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com or your local Amazon site by typing in Danny Breslin). It is the true story of a journey I took from Nepal to China across the Himalayan mountain range and how it all went totally wrong. It tells of my severe altitude sickness, paranoia, organ harvesting Tibetan gangsters, evil mind control experiments and facing a Chinese firing squad. But apart from that it was great!
This blog is the story of the journey from start to finish of the writing process. I hope that what I write here might inspire other new writers and first time novellists and maybe, just maybe, save me from having to get a proper job.

Thanks Marina, it was a rough time but I enjoyed it; maybe I’m not wired up right but I treat everything as an adventure. I sometimes think there are no good experiences or bad experiences – there are just experiences (I might have read that somewhere or maybe I made it up, can’t remember). You do your best with what life throws at you and carry on.

Writing the book is only part of what I do. My main earnings are from ghostwriting for several commercial blogs; the book is something I am doing in my spare time although if it is successful I hope to spend more time writing my second book than blogging. Fingers crossed, eh?

Poke around in there all you want my friend; but be warned, it might take you to some dark places that you might find slightly disturbing, so take a torch and let your loved ones know where you are going! Keeping your organs is a very sensible tip for any journey, I wish Tibetans would appreciate that and take steps to eradicate this problem come harvest time.

I plan on doing both. I’ll do the Amazon ebook thing first, giving it away for free to my blog readers, in return for a blog post, review, tweet etc. Then I’m going to get it done in paperback.

It’s just the kind of true story I would like to read, and learn how to write. I like your writing style, from what I’ve seen on this brief first visit to your blog. Sports games are mini-wars with enemy soldiers are they not???? Sounds like something out of the Bible, or deep dark history books. Hope all is well (as can be) with your kidney. There are some alternative therapies available for kidney stones, I am not sure about big stones though. Apparently they start from tiny bacteria… I’ve heard of someone eating raw garlic cloves and passing a very painful kidney stone… Doesn’t seem like there is any ‘easy’ way through it! All the best to you – may you have strength to get through it.

I’ve been having reiki to help with the pain and carrying crystals around. I don’t fancy eating cloves of raw garlic to be honest, it would definitely empty my stomach if not my kidney, but thanks all the same. It’ll be over soon enough.

Interesting trip. Have walked Nepal a couple of times and been intrigued by the route through to Tibet and thought about it many times. Met a Buddhist monk in November who had just traversed that route with little more than the clothes he stood in and sandals on his feet. So will dig out your book and have a read. Best wishes, Gerry

No, I haven’t yet but I’ll try to, I was talking about the one you wrote on “About” it’s good to know that there is still people who believe in what they’re doing more than what others think … it’s inspiring you know 🙂 and I hope I’ll live like this 😉
If you are happy doing what you love then life suddenly makes sense. It’s a difficult concept to explain to most but I know that you know etc. Too many waste their talents because they are scared of doing what they really want for whatever reason: financial, peer pressure, unsupportive family/partner or whatever. Surely it’s better to take a step and risk a fall knowing you’ve got the courage to get back up and try again than to do nothing, stay safe and always wonder what if?
That’s the spirit, it’s exactly what I meant, it’s truly hard to make others understand, so hoping to show a good example and that the safe isn’t always the best solution and that you can live happy for real, is something worth to do in your life and I wish you all the success 🙂
